Gilded Gold Leafing on a detailed die

The designers series paper is the hero on this card....Expressions in Ink from Stampin' Up! If you look back in my blog post, you will see some alcohol ink backgrounds that I made on Yupo paper from Tim Holtz alcohol inks. It is a wonderful medium to work with, and it can be quite addictive.....but time consuming. After constructing a alcohol background page, there was only a small area of the piece that I would consider usable for a card. When  I saw that Stampin' Up! had regular paper that looked better than anything I could create, I was very excited! So many possibilities are ahead with this gorgeous DSP. I have say it is heartbreaking to put adhesive on any side of it!
I used so many fun elements on this card! The butterfly is from the Butterfly Brilliance bundle. To apply the golden flakes to the detailed die, Put the adhesive sheet on the card stock, and place you die on the adhesive sheet instead of on the card stock itself. When you remove the adhesive "backing" you are left with a sticky butterfly ready to receive the gold flakes...Viola'! So much fun and beauty....and gold all over the place. The sentiment strip is from the Many Messages die; the phrase is from Inspired Thoughts; I love the simplistic font. The gems are Genial gems. I pulled out the gems with the green ones in mind, then I tried the gold ones and boom, that was it. The gold edges on the sentiment strip are a technique I have used for many years, thanks to my friend Katie for showing me that trick. Of course like most things, the marker is available from Amazon.

Simply Succulents

Reinkers are for more than just reining your ink pads. I used a couple of drops mixed with the Shimmer Embossing paste over the Succulents cover plate cut from Basic White. The cute little bug is from the JJ catalog Dragonfly Suite. The sentiment is from Forever Fern Stamp set.

This fun fold is called an arrow card: I cased it from Lisa Cursio. Check out her blog/You Tube for a step by step tutorial.

The Basic White stitched rectangle piece is embossed with the Textile embossing folder. The sentiment is from the most versatile set in the catalog...Positive Thoughts. I use this set as my go to sentiment set.

This set is my new favorite! Coloring the image was great fun; I think I used every green I have. The new Succulent In Color is featured on the front image with Rich Razzelberry on the tips. I used Soft Seafoam to blend all the color together which in turn gave some highlights to the petals. The other foliage needed to be alternate greens, so I used Granny Apple Green, Old Olive, Just Jade, and Evergreen. The pot primarily is colored with Cinnamon Cider with some Soft Suede in the shadows and Evergreen on the accent areas. The Designer Series Paper (DSP) is from Pansy Petals....love, love, LOVE this paper! For a bit of nostalgia I used the stitched shapes oval with he woodgrain DSP. The twine bow was also minute addition....of course to cover an "boo-boo" I couldn't live with. The embellishments are Genial Gems, a mixture of gorgeous green and gold translucent gems. The sentiment is from Comfort and Hope set.

Etched in Nature: On Tour April 2021

Etched in Nature stamp set featuring 2020-2021 In Colors and Basic Borders dies

This stamp set had some manufacturing issues that has prevented Stampin' Up! from selling it right now. It is, however, a beautiful set. If you have a chance in the next year to order if they correct the issues, grab it.

I used several of the images as to create a mock DSP on Just Jade. I pulled out the new IN Color DSP for the Misty Moonlight layer, but for the Cinnamon Cider, I really wanted the woodgrain from
the 20-21 DSP In Color pack.

For the focal image, I cut a mask for the bird on the branch after stamping it on Basic White with Momento Tuxedo Black. I stamped the foliage over the mask and used Stitched Shapes circle die with the layering Circle dies. I used Stampin' Blends to color the image, primarily with In Color blends. Of course , as I have said before, Seaside Spray is my favorite color so I used it on the bird with Misty Moonlight for some shadows.  Cinnamon Cider is the brown on the bird, with a color lifter to lighten some areas.
