Technique Fun with Sand and Sea Suite

I used three different techniques with this suite....I wanted to use many more, but time would not permit this week. BUT there is always next week! Check out the Mini Catalog which does not end until June for many more examples...they are great.

The designer's series paper (DSP) in the Sand and Sea suite is so pretty! It is very hard to decide witch side of the DSP to use. The next delimma is deciding which colors and technique to use to highlight the gorgeous shells. Here I have used the retiring In-Colors (in pads, blends, and. markers) (Seaside Spray is my ALL time favorite color)  along with a few others. The stamps and the dies make a pretty card out right, but the embossing folder just tops it off to push it over the edge to STUNNING! Now I don't say that to brag about my work, but the details brought out by the folder is amazing. I know the photo may not denote that but in person, it takes your breath away. When I am choosing a stamp set to purchase, my mind usually goes to, "what other stamp sets/dies can I use with this one?" This time I used the ever so popular Sailing Home; of course you could use High Tide, Waterfront, or even Seaside Notions with it as well. From the retired sets, The Open Sea, Lovely Lily pad lake, or Wetlands are potential possibilities. I used Very Vanilla card stock as my base as well as the die cut.

I have done the same thing as far as what I used basically, but I stamped with Versamark, embossed with white powder, and used some pearlized  watercolor paints from Ganzi-Tambi to add both color and shine. These were a gift a couple of years ago, so I wanted to check them out . I really like them and will definitely pull them out again. I am pretty sure they are available through Amazon.

Ha-ha! This card was a combination of mistakes, but I ended up liking it a lot. I was going to use Stampin' UP! Heat and Stick powder with Versamark and the gold flakes...when I reached into my drawer I pulled out the wrong little bag of powder....now that didn't come out right did it? I used some WOW bonding powder instead. As I was heating the powder, I noticed my error, but I was too far gone to return. What to do?? I used the media as it was intended...with foiling and my laminator. The laminator I use is from Scotch...an inexpensive tool that works like a charm. The "foliage" on this image is painted with the Ganzi-Tambi paints while  had them out. I popped  the image on my beautiful, but retiring,  Seaside Spray....moment of silence please.

The sentiment dies are from the frequently overlooked stamp and die bundle called Many Messages. One day I stamped and cut these from various card stocks, inks, and embossing powders; I keep them in envelopes on my desk ready to pull out and use. They are small enough to use as a short, sweet message, and not take up too much room on the focal image of the card.
