Pendulum Card featuring Taco Fiesta with Video

Several years ago, I watched Jennifer McGuire 's You Tube channel demonstrating a Pendulum card. It was very memorable; I had never seen anything like that! I sort of put it in the back of my mind and filed it away in the "to do" section with countless other ideas waiting to come to fruition.

I had the opportunity to join Erica Cerwin's (Pinkbuckaroo) Class To Go for the stamp set Taco Fiesta a few weeks ago. Even though I am a demo myself, I wanted to be a part of this because she actually designed the stamp set as part of her Million Dollar sales achievement. The stamp set I received was autographed by Erica and made it very special. Her card designs and project layouts were so fun and bright! I really enjoyed the entire class! One of the designs used the piñata hanging from twine...my mind went BINGO!! The pendulum! I watch Jennifer's video a couple of times and then put it into practice using Erica's basic design and substituted the pendulum. It worked! I had to make a few tweaks to the pendulum design but only because I was using a smaller area that Jennifer used.

For my March 2023 workshop with our stamping group of ladies, we used this Taco Fiesta pendulum card.  My 7 year old granddaughter Katelyn joined us for the workshop. She loves crafting and helping me do anything with stamping. She actually was a HUGE help the day of the workshop. She cleaned stamps, organized, and packed up used items as we worked. She came up with the idea of incorporating a stick on the card for the piñata "wacking."

I was so surprised when I watched Erica's Friday's You Tube recording.  She showed our card and was so kind and complementary about it. Katelyn and I were so thrilled to watch it. I have it linked here.Pinkbuckaroo designs you tube

Below is my You Tube video demonstrating the pendulum technique. Please consider that  this video adventure is so new to me. I certainly hope it becomes more natural to me as time goes on, but for now it is definitely  foreign territory. My southern accent SO prominent and obvious; my 6th grade teacher told me I made Gomer Pyle sound like a Yankee. I've been self conscious of it ever since! It is what it is though. Also, my hands are so arthritic they make looking at them work painful. I'm also double jointed which cause a hyperextension of certain joints. YUCK! Put all that aside though and watch to learn the technique.

Happy "Stamp-a-versary" to me! Delicate Desert with VIDEO

Today marks the 5th anniversary of becoming a Stampin' Up! demonstrator! I started this adventure solely to become a discount shopper, though I always felt guilty for getting such landslide of products in my "starter kit." I kept thinking, "there has to be a catch." And in all honestly, there IS a catch. The catch is....continued discounts and perks for items I would have purchased anyway! I was also preparing for my retirement and wanted to eventually hold workshops like my upline Kathy had done so successfully for many years. I now hold workshops occasionally, but not as much as I had hoped. COVID gave us all a new normal to navigate and learn by trial and error. I have made a valiant effort to do written and video tutorials, but WOW, they are difficult and come with  HUGE learning curve for this antique mind to manage. Kids nowadays learn computers from day one of school; I never even learned how to type! If you saw me now typing on this computer, you would get a good laugh. I am self taught and I use the term "taught" loosely.

My most recent project comes from the beautiful Delicate Desert Suite. Did it speak to you in the new January 2023 mini catalog? It is on page 42 I believe. Check it out! It is so versatile and simple to use. Here are a few examples of cards I have made just this week.

If you read my bio, you will see that I love to use previously purchased (retired) products along with new products. The Stampin' Up! products are made at such a high quality that they do not deserve to sit on a shelf. When I consider purchasing a new stamp set or Designer's Series Paper (DSP) I always think about what I already have that I can use it with. If the answer is "nothing" then I weigh the option of buying something completely unique or deciding not to add it to my stash.
Here is a video I attempted that will show a little bit about using the suite!

I hope you will consider ordering from my on-line store if you need any of the products listed or any other Stampin' Up! items you may want. Remember, we have a new catalog coming out in May 2023 which will offer a whole new line of In Colors as well as the highly anticipated Color Refresh for the next 5 years. I can't wait to see the many new suites and stamp sets plus the countless examples the design team has created.
