Sally Millians: Newstalgia Stamping: Ink blending using Fall colors

Fall Scrappy strip technique using 2020-2022 In-color reinkers, blending bushes, and glycerin! Glycerin is the key to get a smooth blend as you transition from one color to another.

Use the same number of drops of glycerin as ink color. Use a non-porous surface to do your blending. I simply used a laminated piece of white copy paper. Blend on Whisper white card stock (4.25" x 5.5")with either a sponge or a blending brush (I use the cheap ones from Amazon) . Clean the ink off of the blending surface in between colors. The paper will need to dry a few minutes after you complete the blending. Check out the photos showing the process from the end product to the beginning....(backwards I know).

Once dry, cut the paper into strips in all different widths, completely at random. Glue the strips onto a piece of Early Espresso (4" x 5.25"), trim strips as necessary to fit the card stock. Layer the finished piece onto another piece of Early Espresso card stock measuring 4 1/8 x 5 3/8 inches. using dimensional, adhere the final layer to a Bumblebee card base (4.25" x 11", scored and folded at 5.5 inches) (If making the tree card, ribbon needs to be attached prior to adhering to the card base.

Once your base scrappy strip layer is finished, you can decorate it with your favorite Fall stamp sets with or without dies.

For the pumpkin card, I used the Harvest Hello stamp set and apple builder punch.

Stamp pumpkins using Early Espresso ink pad onto whisper white card stock. Punch out the images, including the leaves. Color with Pumpkin Pie blends. Stamp stems on Cinnamon Cider Card stock and punch out. Stamp the oak leaf images on Just Jade card stock and fussy cut out. Stamp the small vine images with Just Jade ink pad on the Scrappy strip where the top pf the pumpkins will be adhered. Using dimensional adhesive, adhere the pumpkins and the leaves.

For the sentiment, use the Tasteful label dies. Stamp the sentiment with Early espresso onto a scrap piece of Cinnamon Cider and die cut the image. Stamp the small leaves on the leaf images already punched out and color with Just Jade blends. Glue onto the sentiment circle. Cut a vellum label from the dies. Apply dimensional on the back of the circle and apply a small strip of ribbon scrap and adhere to vellum label . Adhere to the card from with glue or Stampin' Seal.

For the tree card, I used the My favorite Things Sketch Challenge 506 design and altered it just slightly. I didn't get it finished in time to participate in the challenge, but I really enjoyed trying to use the sketch. I used the Stampin' Write markers to color the tree , huffed on it, and stamped it onto Whisper White card stock. I cut it out with the coordinating dies. Attach a strip of Faux Suede ribbon to the card front with tape on the back prior to adhering it to the card base. I used the embossing plates on vellum for the leaves and cut them out with their coordinating dies. I used Stampin' blend markers on the back of the leaves to add a little color to them, and glued them to the card from (use glue sparingly or perhaps use small glue dots). A little Wink of Stella was applied to the leaves as well as the tree.

For the sentiment, I stamped on a scrap of Cinnamon Cider with Early Espresso and glued it to the tree. Of course I found an ink smudge on the card front so I used some old sequins to strategically cover it up.
