Sale-a-bration products are GORGEOUS!

I danced with both of my sons at their wedding to Louis Armstrong's "What a Wonderful World." When Stampin' Up! came out with this bundle called Wonderful World, my heart felt a warm fuzzy.

Pictures do not do this card justice. Stamping boo-boos, misalignments, and poor lighting are obvious. The new In Color Orchid Oasis is a blueish purple that can only be described as AAHHHH. This Designer's Series Paper (DSP) is the real star of the show. It is simply stunning! It hurts your feelings to put glue on either side. The card design is a CASE from Rachel Tessman at Stamp Your Art Out You Tube Link; it looks complicated, but certainly is not. It allows for the the DSP to be shown off. The belly band is an option, but it provides a canvas for a stamped image as well as holds the card together nicely. I used Stampin' Rite markers to color the stamp before putting it on the die cut. It needed a little "somethin"' so I added brushed brass butterflies. I used a rectangle from the retired Stitched So Sweetly dies for my stamped image, but truly any shape will do.

Here is the same card design using the same DSP pack and stamp set, but it highlights another one of the In Colors, Polished Pink. The card base is Mossy Meadow, one of the colors in the neutral category.

What you don't see is a small 4 inch by 1 1/2 inch piece of cardstock , scored at 1/2 and 1 inch "Z fold" moving mechanism under the front panel. The card base is also scored on the sides to a "Z fold" with panels attached to provide a telescoping effect when opening and closing the card. I love this design! Thank you Rachel for sharing!

AN EASTER MESSAGE

The tiny little direction arrow is from Give it a Whirl dies. The brad is white but I colored it with a dark Gray Granite Blends. There is just an 1/8" difference in the layers. The black is 5 3/8" x 4 1/8". I used the middle three Diorama dies .

The vellum with the sentiment (using Staz On ) is sandwiched in between the second layer and the third (black ). The second layer is sponged with Gray Granite ink rather heavily. The sunburst is on the card from using the brightest yellow ink in I could find...Pineapple Punch. The black layer is applied using Dimensionals.

This card conveys the TRUE Easter message...the empty tomb.....where the rubber meets the road so to speak. My goal was a card as simple as the Easter message is. I really wanted to use all Stampin' Up! products, but I knew in my heart exactly what I wanted it to say, so I ventured into my "oldies, but goodies."

I found a set from Papertrey Ink designed and illustrated by the wonderfully talented Marcella Hawley (who is actually a friend of a friend.) The stamp set is called He Is Risen. I received it as a gift from my friend years ago. The sunburst on the inside of the "tomb" is also from a Papertrey Ink oldie called Nativity Silhouettes, also a gift (Thank you Katie!). The simple lettering on the front of the card uses a set from Lawn Fawn called Milo's ABCs, a very simple lettering style just the right size (a little fiddly to use though.) I purchased this set many years ago to participate in an online card class from Kristina Werner and Jennifer McGuire (Icons on the world of paper crafting!) The butterflies are from a Catherine Pooler set called Butterfly Notes. Catherine was an avid Stampin' Up! demo who was so successful and creative that she later ventured out to start her own company (which is a huge success)...good for her!

There is a retired set from Stampin' Up! that I later ran across in my stash called His Grace which would be perfect for this message, but I discovered it too late for these cards above. I've just redone the card however and used SU! products (but mostly retired.)

I used a set called His Grace, a retired set form many years ago for the greeting; I used a die called Sunburst Thinlits for the inside under the vellum on the card front. of course the embellishments are Pebbles Enamel shapes, which are current!

WELCOMING WINDOW

Designer's Series Paper In Good Taste

There is a clear window sheet (aka transparency) sandwiched in between the DSP and the Smokey Slate layer. The window is cut from all three layers before adhering the DSP/Smokey Slate layers. The window frame simply lays on top of the window sheet. On the inside of the card, the window is also cut from the yellow Patterned Play DSP and another frame is inserted after the DSP is adhered. The flowers were stamped using the Stamparatus, and I used reverse stamping for the inner image to show through the window.

Welcoming window and the coordinating dies are on the retirement list! This was at the top of my list when the new catalog came out last year. A little story behind that though.

When I first started card making, a friend of mine had been stamping for a long time and was encouraging me along the way. She let me borrow a purple stamp set (yes, the rubber was purple and not red) that had a beautiful, yet whimsical, window and various other images to go with it. Back then, the Stampin' Up! hostess sets were purple; she earned it from having a card making workshop at her home well before I came on the scene. I enjoyed using that set so much that I stamped many images to use at a later date. You see, when I first started, I borrowed a lot of sets for "day use." I had the idea that spending $25 a month for my own stamping supplies was CRAY-CRAY. I am pretty sure the Lord is getting a good laugh about that right now. Ever since then, I have had an affinity towards window images, but I do not remember a stand alone set with window images until the current catalog came out. I have seen other demonstrators do gorgeous work with this set using vellum, other DSP, and coordinating images. I'm sure you can check out Pinterest to see a plethora of ideas.

Of course my image is a little crooked and not quite centered, but you get the general idea. I think this was around 2007 or maybe 2008. The ribbon and card stock were not Stampin' Up! products; I didn't let myself afford such then. I think I had a couple of Color Box ink pads and some watercolor pencils. But... I love the card just the same; it denotes one of my "jumping off points" or should I say, "Jumping INTO points."

I have to say that just because a stamp set is retired, doesn't mean it isn't still worth using. SU! products are so well manufactured that they are timeless. IIIFFFFFF I owned this older window set, you better believe I would still use it. If I knew the name of it, I bet I could buy it on EBay for a GAGILLION dollars.
